Free Accountancy Session To Start - FAST Start

What Is It?

A session (minimum 3 hours) with a firm of chartered or certified accountants to provide you with the key financial knowledge you need to setup and run your business, including:

• Understand pricing and margin so that you make a profit!
• A practical introduction to book-keeping
• A guide to credit control - making sure you get paid!
• Other FAQ’s – including VAT, record keeping, cashflow, paying tax

These will be very hands-on sessions run in very small groups (max 6 people) so that you have the opportunity to apply this to your own business.

Can I Use the Time to Discuss Other Topics with the Accountant?

No problem – the above list covers the important areas that you need to understand as a start-up business, but if you are confident with these areas there will also be time to ask the accountants about other matters to suit your own needs.
 
What Are the Benefits to Me?

Many businesses start up without getting the basic building blocks in place, either because of cost, time, or simply not knowing where to go.  

This service will give you all the information you need to start on the right foot - you will understand from the word go how to price effectively, what your accounts are telling you, and most importantly how to make money! 

Who Is Eligible and when Should I Use the Service?

To be eligible you won’t have started trading yet, but intend to start your business in Yorkshire and Humber within the next 4 weeks.

If you have already started trading, unfortunately you will not be eligible for this service. We would consider that you have already started trading if you have recorded your first cash sale or raised your first invoice.

Can I Use Any Accountant I Want?

The ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants for England & Wales) and the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) have over 1,000 members in Yorkshire and the Humber – the vast majority will provide this service but if you have any difficulties finding one near you, please do contact us.

Do I then have to use this accountant to manage my finances?

No – you are free to do this yourself, choose a book-keeper or indeed another accountant. However you may wish to ask the accountant delivering the session about the services they provide. 

Do I Have to Fill in Lots of Forms? 

Absolutely not! All you need to do is contact the accountant you have selected and they will deal with any paperwork.
