Response to Redundancy and Time to Train
The Yorkshire & Humber Response to Redundancy Service supports individuals aged 18+ who are under notice of redundancy (HR1), recently made redundant or those who are unemployed and could be ready for work if provided with the right skills to enter or re-enter sustainable employment.
The Employer Offer
Where the employer is dedicated to supporting skills activities for the employees who are working their redundancy period of, or are willing to extend the redundancy period to allow access to skills development activity to help the employee re-enter employment quickly. Employees will be offered a bespoke training programme that reflects the needs of the local labour market.
The package of support will typically be 2 - 8 weeks and is aimed at helping employees refresh their skills in a sector or begin retraining for a new one. Once they have benefited from the flexible skills provision, they will be given help to secure new employment and receive additional support for training once they have re-entered employment.
In addition to the training support for the employee, the business can apply for Time to Train which provides an allowance to “buy employee time” at minimum wage rates for 1 or 2 days per week.
